Add auto AI translation caperbility to Polylang using OpenAI/ChatGPT or Anthropic/Claude.
This plugin connects to OpenAI/ChatGPT (api.openai.com) or Anthropic/Claude (api.anthropic.com) in PHP from the WordPress admin in order to faciliate the translations. When a WordPress author has the plugin activated, has entered their OpenAI API key in the settings, and clicks new translation from Polylang, the plugin will send the post title and post content to OpenAI or Anthropic for tranlsation.
Installatie
This section describes how to install the plugin and get it working.
- If not already installed, install and activate the Polylang plugin https://www.wordpress.org/plugins/polylang/
- Upload entire
ai-translate-polylangfolder to the/wp-content/plugins/directory - Activate the plugin through the ‘Plugins’ menu in WordPress
- Edit AI Translate settings at Languages -> AI Translate
- Click the translate button on a post or page

I was trying to use this plugin, it works, but has zero usability in mind
It only translates when you create a new post/page or content, but does not edit or gives you the option to “translate again”, so if you edit the original content, you can’t use it to translate again. This is probably easy to adapt, but there’s no github for the code so I can’t help with my own code (sorry, i’ll never use SVN again 😁)
The concept is fine, it can grow adding more buttons/actions for the user so he can choose when to translate and from/to whatever the user wants, then the LLM does the work.
Other issue: the limitation of models, there’s a lot of new models to use but the plugin limits them with a narrow options, example: I use Gemini Flash 2.5, but the selector only gives me the 2.0 option.

The plugin is great and works really well. However, it would be even better with integration for SEO plugins like SEOPress or Rank Math.

The plugin is a very good idea.
It works reasonably well for translating articles and simple pages, but for complex ones with lots of shortcodes, it doesn’t work.I made a similar one myself, but ran into the same problems.
Good luck if you thought of improving the plugin!

First of all, I want to thank you for the great plugin! It works excellently, and I’m really satisfied with its functionality.
However, I have a feature request that would be incredibly helpful for my use case. Currently, when sending long requests to ChatGPT, I run into limitations where the response exceeds the token limits. As a result, I only receive about 20-30% of the page’s content due to the response being cut off.
Would it be possible to add a feature that allows splitting the response into multiple parts? This way, I could handle longer outputs more effectively without losing valuable content.
Thank you so much for considering this! It would make a huge difference in ensuring that I can use the plugin to its fullest potential.

good for single article translation. please add bulk translating features. i have websites with 800+ articles i want to translate to 20 more languages. so translating one by one is not possible .
